The Winter Semester starts on 1st October, and the Summer Semester on 1st March. Each lecture has its own starting date after this.

The lecturer of each course fixes his/her own starting date, or announces a preliminary meeting to agree on a schedule with the interested students. This information is usually available by the first or second week of the semester on the course webpage in TISS, or in an informal wepbage reachable from it. You can access the EMCL courses via our modules page.

Some groups make a preliminary meeting where all they announce all the lectures taught by its members, and potential schedules may be discussed.

Note that you need to watch out for the first meeting of all courses that are offered by other groups.

If the course is announced as part of a module, then it can be completed in English.
In some cases the course language information in TISS may appear to be German. This can have different causes:

• most likely, this information is wrong: the course is in English but the language information is outdated (we try to avoid this, but sometimes the updates are done too late),
• the course is usually in German, but will be given in English if somebody requests it, or
• in a few exceptional cases, the course is given in German but EMCL students can complete it in English upon agreement with the lecturer.
